Just a side note... In my experience other DMV offices in Montana are very good. I've personally dealt with Boulder, Billings, Missoula and Bozeman, all of which were great!
There was an issue with my new title application and I left my phone number on the application just in case there were issues with it. They cashed my check and never sent me my title or told me there was an issue with my application. After a month, I tried to call multiple times and was on hold for longer than an hour. When I finally got through they told me what the issue was and tried to help the best they could. Once I could talk to them, they were great. But now it will take another 5 weeks to get my title. They need to hire more staff. Pretty ridiculous, to be honest.
Refused to do my title work during their listed business hours. I traveled over 200 miles to have some title work done. I was there at 4.30 [ which I have done in the past ], there was nobody else in line and they would not help me. I was told that they do not process titles after 4.00 and that the gal that was waiting on me closed her register and couldn't take any more money. REALLY closed your register a half hour before you close. That makes great business sense. I was told to just come back tomorrow and they would help me. What the hell it's only 200 miles out of my way and takes 1/2 of my work day up. What better things could I have to do. They have no posted signs stating that they don't process titles after 4.00, there web site says that they are open until 5.00, I never received any dealer notices stating that they don't process after 4.00, when I asked to see a copy of there hours/rules they said they didn't have anything to show me. I guess they just figure that they can make things up as they go. Too bad people that need title work done don't have other options so places like this could be put out of business like they deserve.
I am surprised at how many others had the same problem as me. Over the phone they are so rude I had to just hang up and now I have to call back to get them to send my info over
Its just unbelievable...
This is seriously the most rude and incompetent DMV that I've ever seen or heard of. The staff is consistently gruff and clearly not concerned about anyone else. It's almost unbelievable the lack of personal care or consideration in almost every single employee.
After moving to a different state, it's even more mind-blowing... Here the DMV is packed with people but the obviously well-trained staff exhibit respect, kindness and excellent customer service in the midst of a clearly hectic atmosphere. In Helena, expect to be met with one word abrupt requests and answers. The overall atmosphere in there is like a black cloud. Now I've had to request a replacement title and dealing with them over the phone is almost worse than in person...
Been waiting four weeks for a title to come in the mail. Before the move, it was only taking up to 2 weeks and sometimes only a few days. Very upsetting! All the paperwork is submitted electronically. Not sure how it takes over a month to get a title.
Maybe if we keep reporting how bad it is there in the Helena office they will do something about it...? I hope so for the sake of the people in Helena. That place is an embarrassment...
