called and asked kids club hours, got my two toddlers ready and drove all the way there the next day just for them to tell me normally there open at that hr but not today
The Independent Record and YMCA have worked together in the past as community partners and they have been great to work with. Their commitment to the community for the last 75 years has been a big benefit to the area.
Pool is about half-size, no sauna, no hot pool.
The building is older and it can get a little cramped at times, but the family membership is affordable and they have a decent pool. My teenager likes going there to workout and they have a lot of kids sports activities.
I have been to Y's from Winnipeg to Washington State. This is absolutely the worst. Do not waste your time in Helena with this; go to one of the many private gyms and pay for a day pass.
Worst. YMCA. Ever.
The only Y that, instead of offering 14 visits to people who are Y members elsewhere, offers instead, 14 days. When two weeks has elapsed from the first visit, you can't go for another year. Never mind you're in town for one day, need a workout and a shower and you'll be on your way.
Front desk staff is bordering on confrontational - YOUR Y SUCKS! No need to be that way because you aren't protecting anything.
No hot water.
Can't use it for anything. Can't wash my workout gear in the sink because i can't spin it when done. Can't take a hot shower and get clean so there's no sense in working out.
No suit spinner.
The people of Helena desperately need a better YMCA with updated facilities. That said, the Y staff are amazing and they really do the best they can under the circumstances. I hope new facilities are a priority in the future.
