DO NOT purchase a vehicle from Big D's Auto! More car problems than we have ever experienced in a vehicle.
Bought a car from them on Saturday paid them 3,500$ cash for a 2004 Ford Explorer, beautiful car! I was so excited! I do not live in Helena, I reside in Butte but I am currently in the process of moving to Bozeman for a new job, so on my drive home from the car lot my car breaks down on the side of the highway. Over heating, smoke everywhere, and the check engine light came on!
On a side note, they were very helpful and professional while helping me test drive and decide on which vehicle to purchase. They were also willing to negotiate price and came down $250 on their asking price. The paperwork was quick and easy, and I enjoyed working with Tristen.
I am currently waiting patiently for Rich to return my call and tell me what he is going to do to help me and make right of this situation. I will update my review as soon as I hear back from them.
I paid them all of my cash savings for this vehicle, over drafted my checking account, and I am loosing money and seeming very unprofessional by not being able to make it to work today! My first day!
I called in and Tristen, who I bought the vehicle from was not in, neither was the owner Rich.
Well, I had to call and tell my new job I couldn't make it because of these unexpected vehicle issues.
I am hoping that they will do all they can to help me out, fix the issue of the vehicle they sold me, and make sure that their customer is happy and satisfied. I really hope to rate them higher and be able to refer my family and friends to them in the future.
I bought a 2008 mazda from this location in January. Had LOTS good to say about them until recently. The owner actually met me on a Sunday as I was coming from out of town! The paperwork made it to the titling office quickly, the car itself is amazing and I got a great deal. Now the issues...the day I picked up the car, Rich had told me he wanted to replace the battery because he had put a new one in, but it is too small for the car; He would be in Great Falls the following weekend and would take care of it then. He kept the battery hold down bracket in his words to "remind me that I need to do this". Weeks pass and I never hear from Rich. I text him on the 4th of March to find out what is going on. He stated that he had forgotten, and some things had come up, but would be in town that week and would drop the hold down bracket by my house. The day that he wanted to deliver the bracket, I had plans ( my son's birthday) to be out of town at my parents house. He delivered an incomplete- missing the wing nuts- old, rusty battery bracket that didn't fit my vehicle. He has tried to fault me for this because I did not change my standing plans to meet him. He did finally manage to find my battery bracket, but at this point, it's still at his office as far as I know. I've not heard back from him since 3/10 when he told me that he would take care of it. At this point, I don't even want the new battery he promised me. I *just* want MY hold down bracket to ensure the battery stays in place. I've grown so very frustrated and disappointed with the lack of follow up on promises made by the owner of this business.
I only owned this vehicle for approximately 2 hours before this happened! I tried calling them as soon as this happened but they were closed and I'm guessing out of the office, so I left a couple voice mails telling them what happened and expressing my concern. By 10 am Monday morning I had yet to receive a call back in return.
I had a problem with a car of mine in Helena. Not knowing anyone in the Helena area, and all the repair shops were either booked or closing soon. I contacted a friend in Great Falls. They said to contact Big D's Auto Sales. Although my car wasn't purchased there, they went out of their way to diagnose the problem afterhours at around 8 pm in the cold, they then had it transported to their shop and had it fixed on Sunday (Which is their day off). Its not all about the money with this company. Sure appreciate their help. Hopefully I can repay the favor someday. Thanks guys. Highly recommended.
When I purchased this vehicle I repeatedly expressed my need for a RELIABLE vehicle because I am expecting my third child in September, and that I was a newly single mother who had just received a new teaching position in Bozeman and needed to start work early Monday morning.
I spoke with Dan, who seemed very confused on what to say or do to help me. He told me he would ask Rich to call me as soon as he got in, I asked if he needed my telephone number to return my call, he replied that he had it but when he read the number to me, it was the wrong number. I asked when I should be hearing from Rich and he could not give me a ETA.
I broke down at about 6 pm ended up paying 300$ in towing fees, which over drafted my account, and didn't not get home until damn near 1 o'clock in the morning.
Do yourself a favor and walk away now. Rich is completely unprofessional, and has not trained Scott to do anything. So then you are constantly trying to get a hold of someone who can answer any of your questions because Scott doesn't know anything which is not his fault. Rich will promise you everything over under the sun, but does not deliver. He promised to put a new headlight in, and conveniently wasn't there when I showed up. He promised my car to be done by a certain date, but that didn't happen. Then I moved to a different state and he states that the tags were mailed by certified mail from him, however, I find that hard to believe because I never received any notification from the post office that I needed to come pick up certified mail. I agree with the other review that he completely belittles Scott. He talked down on him, in front of him, and in front of all of us to the point that it makes you feel uncomfortable. And when you get into a complete shouting match on the phone over all of his excuses that's just the icing on top. Oh, and when he threatens to send the repo truck after you, but you have made your car payments on time! Smh! His cars aren't as great as he makes them out to be either.
